Life of Niggas in PNM

we future bright!

This is how after 40 fockin years the PNM have niggas. And you know, wid all that the dotish cont and dem does still go back and vote for the fockin PNM.

You like it so niggas! Never complain.

He called me and handed me an envelope.

“That is the job letter that I had for you,” he said.

“Just take it into the bank with your ID and they will open an account for you.”

The letter stated that I was a labourer employed with his contracting company for one year, and that my fortnightly salary was $711.

I asked why I could not use my RBTT account, and he said FCB was the bank assigned to Cepep’s workers.

“If you have the RBTT account then that will mean that you will get your money a few days after everybody else,” he said.

After speaking to me, he called Rosie and handed her an envelope to give to Randy, then he drove off.

The drinks came back out immediately. Cello and Emma began to laugh at Rosie, calling her a coward.

“She hide she drink, yes. Fats don’t know what in the cup. It could be a soft drink or anything,” he said.

Rosie said nothing. She just smiled, embarrassment printed on her face.

She dismissed the group and reminded me that there was no work tomorrow (Saturday).

“Don’t forget, Monday at 6 am next week again,” she said.

Today was my last day on the job, though.

Emma’s story

Emma sits on the pavement, leaning against the wall of someone’s home, her fan rake at her side.

The sun hammers hard on her head as she wipes beads of perspiration from her face. Emma is 23 years old and is a labourer in Cepep. Soon it will be the ambition of her children too.

She is the single mother of five children, ages ranging from ten months to eight years. 23 years and you done have 5 children already. You taking toti from small! Cepep pays her $711 on a fortnightly basis, just enough to put food on the table for her children.

The fathers (fock!!!!!!! father(S) of her children support her but not very much, hence the reason she started working. She suspects that she is pregnant again as every morning around 7 o’clock she becomes nauseous. Still taking more prick to fock the world up wid more nigglets. Fock is like every 10 months this whore pregnant.

“That is nothing, yes, I done have the pill put down already, I go take it in the morning first thing before I come to work,” she tells me. Provided free of charge through the CDAP programme.

Emma was previously employed with the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) but switched to Cepep because the pay was a little better.

“I used to get about $456 a fortnight and not only that, it had too much stress in that work.

“You had to deal with people not coming to work for weeks and still getting pay while you working your tail off. Well at least one nigga was working, that was you girl. Like you was on your back with Buju Banton while the others was leaning on the neighbour wall or teefin dey zaboca?

“Then it had people who want to jumbie you to cash cheque for them. That was too much bacchanal, and I couldn’t take it. I have my children to take care of,” she said.

Every morning she has to get up as early as four o’clock to get three of her children prepared for school. The other two, who are under three, stay at home with their grandmother.

She admits to getting pregnant at the age of 15, when she was still in Form Two. FOCK! I did now start to pee froth! And this slut pregnant already, not even wid a lil fella from Form 2 nah, the pride of ah nigga possession. Ah Taxi Driver!

“A taxi driver used to pick me up from school and drop me home every day. He was real nice and caring, something I wasn’t accustomed to.

I thought I was in love with him, so I play I know how to do the people thing and I get pregnant the first rounds,” she said.

She added that when she told the man about her pregnancy, his sweet, caring demeanour drastically changed.

“He tell me I can’t keep it because he go get in trouble.”

Emma kept the baby anyway. At the time she lived with her mother and three siblings. She kept the pregnancy from her mother for more than four months until her mother began seeing changes in her body weight.

“That woman noticed my hip and breast getting big, and she ask me. I tell her yes,” Emma recalled.

“Talk about licks for so, but she tell me she have no money to make me throw it away. That is why I keep it.”

Emma was unable to finish school and within nine months of giving birth to the first child she was pregnant again for another man. Well yeah, why the fock bother finish school. The PNM will mine meh. CEPEP work. Leaves me to fock dong the place again, and make more nigglets.

“Me, I don’t know, girl. These men does make so much promises and make you feel them is the one.

“I guess that is how I make so much children.

“Men treat me nice, but when they hear I pregnant they start to say all kinds of nasty things, like I was with somebody else and I wild,” she added in a comical tone.

She gets up from where she is sitting and begins to rake some uprooted grass.

I followed her. As she raked I swept away the excess dirt from the drains.

I asked her if she ever considered going back to school.

“Me. I get too old for that now. I don’t think I bright like I used to be again,” she said.
I insisted that she should return to school, so she would be able to get a better-paying job.

“Why you don’t do over some subjects? You can start from there,” I suggested.

Our conversation ended abruptly when I said this. Emma became angry, saying that she hated people like me, looking down on her. It must make she vex. As I always say. Show ah nigga ah book and blood pressure gone through the roof. Book, and I could be fockin all dem taxi drivers and drain cleaners. Look fock you eh gyul, I musbe have AIDS by now.

As a matter of fact we should try hanging one by all yuh windows, that might turn them off from breaking in yuh house.

“Look at you. You doing the same thing like me, but you telling me what to do. Allyuh does feel because all you have a little more, that all you better than people,” she said angrily.

I was confused. I didn’t realise that she would have taken offence at my advice. Emma walked away and joined the rest of the group further up the road.

I could hear her in the distance complaining to Rosie about me being “damn farse and out of place with myself.”
