Tommy’s son shot dead

NEKETO JOSEPH, the 25-year-old son of popular comedian Tommy Joseph, was shot to death on Sunday night in the vicinity of the D’Abadie Video Club, D’abadie. Neketo was waiting on relatives to tow his car when he was killed.

The killing pushed the murder toll to 224 for the year thus far.

According to police reports, Neketo, a lab assistant at St Clair Medical Centre and father of a one-year-old boy, was driving his car along Piarco Old Road, D’Abadie at about 10.30 pm on Sunday, when his car stalled.

He used his cell phone to contact relatives and was awaiting their arrival when he was confronted by two men armed with guns.

Reports revealed that the gunmen demanded that Neketo hand over cash and jewelry. He resisted and a struggle ensued. Neketo was shot once on the left side of the hip and slumped to the ground.

Passersby who were alerted to the gunshot rushed to the scene and saw Neketo barely alive. He was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he succumbed to the gunshot injuries.

Homicide officers went to the scene of the shooting and carried out a search for the suspects.

Neketo’s father, Tommy was contacted and he went to the hospital where he identified his son.

Yesterday, at the Forensic Science Centre, Tommy sat in a car awaiting the autopsy of his son.

The autopsy was carried out by Dr Eastlyn McDonald-Burris and concluded that Neketo died from shock and haemorrhage consistent with a gunshot wound to the left side of the hip.

Tommy described his son as a good person and called for swift justice. He said that he was anxiously awaiting the response of the police in this investigation.

“I am leaving this in the hands of the Almighty and the police,” said Tommy.

Ever since the PNM came into office amidst intimidatory tactics, which obviously licenced fockin criminals to continue as they fock well please. Murders have become the order of the day.
