Now Venezuelans freed of Customs charges

A magistrate has ordered that a pirogue and three engines be returned to four Venezuelans freed of trafficking $1 million in marijuana.

The order was made by Senior Magistrate Lianne Lee Kim in the Port-of-Spain Fourth (A) Court yesterday when Eduardo Pascall, Jose Fajardo, Hilda Arcai and Jesus Marin reappeared on Customs and Excises charges arising from their arrest on August 29, 2006.

Counsel for the Customs and Excise Division Chaitram Bhola returned with instructions from the Comptroller of Customs and Excise to withdraw the three charges against the accused.

On Wednesday, the accused were freed of trafficking 107.2 kilogrammes of marijuana, when Lee Kim upheld a no-case submission from defence attorney Nicole Tyson-Petit.

Bhola said the Customs and Excise Division could not continue with the matter in light of the evidence of the prosecution.

Some fockin thing jus not right here.
